just as a ballpark, how much do you think it would cost to have someone take the 4 speed automatic out of a late model c4 (a4?)(3+4?) and put in a zf 6 speed? if i do the work myself? if i have someone else do it?
I dond't know of the prices of used ZF6 anymore, but I know you need to modify the transmission tunnel, to make one fit. If it is auto, you will need to buy the clutch pedal, linkage, master, slave cylinders. I would guess atleast $4000, unlesss you had a parts C4. It is a lot cheaper just to buy a 89up 6 speed.
I posted the parts, and steps, with pics of the floorpan cutout.
Cost for my parts was about $3000. That was a low mileage ZF6 from a 96, with bellhousing, dual-mass flywheel, clutch assembly, etc. The labor was all mine, did all the work myself.
