Okay first post here. I recently spun a bearing in my 1993 RR-LT1,#3 bearing to be exact. Sucks I know, but I am in a pickle. I was thinking of just getting the motor rebuilt seeing how it is a 40th car but not sure if the economics can work out. I am also thinking of getting a crate motor and just hanging on to the original motor. I want more HP but not sure it is cost feasible to spend all the money on the original motor at the machine shop vs. just buying a new motor that has all this in place. My question(s) here lies;
Do I just rebuild the motor and move on?
Do I just buy a crate motor and put that in? What motor would work?
My budget in $6k. I know more money would help but I thought this $ figure would be the best in my interests.
Rebuild your engine as a 383
Buy the time you regrind the crank you are part way towards the cost of new stroker crank which is only major cost difference between rebuilding a 350 or 383
