I love the tires I have on now but they don't make them anymore. <Aqua Flow GTX Grand Spirit>
I do alot of street racing, drag racing and autoX. I don't want something so sticky that I'll burn through them <no pun> in 15k miles but I need to be able to hook up. Any suggestions?
Thanks guys :D

Re: Tires for aggressive driving?? (lilredcorvette)
Kumho's are cheap, handle great, and have lasted 14,000 miles of abuse so far. Fronts are at 40-50%, rears are at 25% (heh) You can tell by the edges of my tires that they've been treated right heheh... My dunlops looked like this after 5,000 miles, and didn't handle nearly as well.
Dont go BFG CompTAs. The ones I have on now is like driving on ice in the rain. :nonod: My BALD SZ50s tracked better in wet traction. Ill be keeping these on long enough to pass inspection and save up money for a set of Kumhos.

Before this post I was looking at the BFG CompTAs. Thanks for the heads up!! http://www.tirerack.com has Kumhos for 92.00 each and Discount tire said they had them cheaper.... shoujldn't have to save for long.
Re: Tires for aggressive driving?? (lilredcorvette)
I really like the BFG comp TA's they have lasted through some pretty aggreive driving, and do well in the dry, rain, and snow (as you know I have made it home in some pretty bad weather)

PS... aggressive if you could launch. Your tires are in no danger.... LMAO:eek: :D
Re: Tires for aggressive driving?? (lilredcorvette)
Firestone SZ50s or Kuhmos :yesnod: Mom is running Kuhmos on her 96 Impala SS and likes them. I've heard they hook well at the track. The SZ50s are very good in the rain.
Re: Tires for aggressive driving?? (lilredcorvette)
no those are the sumitomos, the BFG's are up front and they have been on there for almost 30,000 and still haven't reached 50% tread life. The BFG's that were in the back went through quite a bit of abuse before I put the 315's on, and i didn't notice very much tire wear on them either
Re: Tires for aggressive driving?? (lilredcorvette)
I'm sorry but any tire that is "sticky" i.e. has a treadwear rating of below 200... you will burn through them in 15k easy.
Normally I run high performance all season tires (ex: Pirelli P7000 Supersports for one) and they've got a treadwear rating of 320 (they're brick hard). If I get a bit over 20K out of them I'm happy.
No Auto-X'ing or dragging involved. Just daily aggressive driving and all 4 wearing out evenly.
Re: Tires for aggressive driving?? (Dan Parker '96)
I'm getting great mileage out of the Pilots, especially considering what I do to them. Think about it,hundreds of burnouts totalling thousands of miles and I'm still getting 20k out of them.

When I get the launch down you better watch out or all you might get to see is those 4 tail lights ;) :jester
Even on a good day, when the planets lined up and you launched right I STILL beat you off the line.... always will :D:D I'm not scared...
Re: Tires for aggressive driving?? (lilredcorvette)

You've had the car for how long? You raced almost all of last season...
_____________ <~ learning curve? ;) you know I love you...
LMAO, i would say _________n________ is more like it, I had it down pretty good at the end of last season, and seem to have forgot how it was done, the learning curve for launching on the street seems to be more like -----------_________ cause it keeps getting worse :jester
Re: Tires for aggressive driving?? (lilredcorvette)
The Firestones have a 340 tread rating on them and they great wet or dry.. they wear very well. If you want a high performance tire and cost doesn't matter ,it's either the Michelins or the Firestones... if your on a budget, kuhmos are great for the price.
None of them are going to make you a better driver thou.... :p:
