I been looking at the diffrent shift kits out there Transgo, Superior, B&M Fairbanks.
I had the trans rebuilt but a local shop and it been a nightmare I dont want to send it back there AGAIN so they can have sit out side for anouther month if I sent back that would been the 3rd time not again.
After they rebulit the trans it shifts very soft ****ing point are very low, you can feel it slip in to the next higher gear, even if you hold the shifter in 1st gear it will still shift at 3000 RPM's and 4500 in 2 to 3rd ect.
I have a new Govenner that rated for 5200 RPM shifts ready to stick in.
But which shift kit to get Firm shift plus fix the shifting points that you can hold it in a gear shift semi smouth during normal driving when on the gas hard shift firm but not snap you neck doing so.
Help I ready to order one this weekend but which one the trans is should have a corvette servo in it now but the place that did the rebuild who's knows what they did.
Don't get the Transgo unless you or someone doing it for you knows what they are doing. It is one of the best out there but it is also the most complicated. The average joe can do the B&M with a little patience & paying attention but the Transgo is way advanced. Also Transgo will not give help over the phone, their shift kits have a disclaimer that states if you can't do it don't even buy the kit, or something similar to that. I did my own but it was totally different than any others I had done.
I tryed to adjust the TV cable in either direction still not working good.
I think the guy who rebuilt it put anouther Govener in the trans I know he swaped out Valve bodies thats a whole amouther storiy why it went back the sencond time for them to fix the trans.
Like I said there not going to be a 3rd time.
The trans that went to them had all the good hard parts in it they were hired to change out the soft parts.
I had a stage II kit put in with my rebuild, don't know what kind. It shifts super quick now, really solid. But I would like one that will shift when I want it to a WOT.
Where do you get the transgo shift kit? I got a guy that can install it no problem. Great transmission shop. He rebuilt my tranny. If it's the best, can someone please post me a link? Thanks!!!
P.S. Goodluck to the original poster with his shift kit install!

Here is something to always keep in mind actually 2 things. First let the guy a few bucks on the kit for the love of God he needs to eat too. Second if you provide the parts and there is any kind of problem it is your problem not his and he gets paid to install your parts and if not right remove them and install again as many times to make it right. Are you really willing to expose yourself finacially like that for a few bucks in parts? Do you bring your food to the resturaunt ? LOL I usually have the dealer do the routine oil and filter change and just tell him what I want for oil and let them get it along with the filter. The service manager is a car guy young with a hot rod Camero that is pretty nice so he 'gets' it and don't need to worry about them. I do leave a list of things to check with where to grease tire pressures etc. When I pick the car up the guy that worked on it signs off on it. Not your average GM dealer. The place has been in the same family since 3 generations of my family so they are friends too.
