Default Project parts list help

I am getting ready for my first big project with my '85. After having little use for a number of years, I thought that having the injectors serviced would be a good idea. Since I am there, I plan on disassembling the upper engine down to the heads. While there, I plan on doing the following:

R&R with new gaskets: plenum, TBI, runners, intake, fuel rail, valve covers
Clean up plenum, intake, TBI, IAC, etc.
Replace injectors with Bosch IIIs from FIC
Replace FPR with an adjustable regulator
Replace FPR diaphram
Replace valve seals
Replace valve springs

So, my parts list is this so far:
Rebuilt 24# Bosch IIIs (FIC)
Adjustable FPR (CC)
FPR diaphram (Rock Auto)
Intake and valve cover gaskets, fuel rail o-rings (Rock Auto)
Valve seals and springs (Rock Auto)

Am I missing anything I should do while that far into the engine or anything I am missing from the parts list?

I am tempted...

I'll have to go review your progress threads to see how much of a pain it was.

I remembered one more thing, replace thermostat while I am there.

If you have a die grinder...then gasket match the intake, runners and plenum. You could do a little porting on the plenum. Also since you have the heads off, take the die grinder to the exhaust manifolds and grind off the air tubes inside the manifold. You could also gasket match the exhaust manifolds.

replace vacuum line hoses.

I would suggest replacing head gaskets while the engine is down that far.

How many miles are on the car?

If there are a good amount, take the heads off and have them decked to true them, 3 angle valve job, valve springs, and seals. You've gone down to the heads, it's only another 34 bolts-ish.

I am so glad I did it. I was embarrassed to open the hood before.

Now I look for opertunities too.

Less than $50 in supplies.

I have 2 sets of nearly new Bosche III 24# injectors that I got from FIC for sale. I'm replacing my engine with a 396 and therefore need larger injectors.

Good idea, I will have to look at that.

I am on the fence on this one. I have 78k miles, so it isn't really needed, but it is a fair argument and point. Since I am there... It certainly would make the valve seals and springs easier...

If I do the above, this will get done. Of course, isn't that how the one member started out having his injectors cleaned and kept inching forward until he built a 383?

Funny, I used him to clean the injectors on my 1983 Mustang GT Turbo Convertible about 10 years ago. Only 312 made...

Get a hold of FIC when I did my motor build FIC gave me good trade in value for my old FIC 22# injectors.

I need to research that. Will they help much on a stock iron head motor?
