Stearing Rack Leaking?
Looks like I may need a new stearing rack, but I haven't figured out exactly where it's leaking from on the rack yet. I do see the fluid all over the belt and the PS fluid resevoir is empty. If I'm going to replace my stearing rack I would like to install a quicker ratio rack if possible. Currently mine is 2.5 turns lock to lock on the stearing wheel. Is the one from the Z51 in 1996 quicker? Or do I have to go to an older model Z51 to get a quicker stearing ratio?
Any sources for getting such a part. The dealer wants $360 for it!

Must be about the time for these parts to go on an LT4. I just had to have mine replaced for leaking. It cost me $400 for the part and $300 labor.
The labor included the alignment after the rack was replaced...

not sure about prices on a 96, but I recently changed the one on my 84. I got it at CarQuest for $160 .. AutoZone was $139 I think. You can search parts and prices online for Kragen, AutoZone and NAPA. Even if you don't buy there it'll give you an idea of what it may cost.
