Water in the intake?
In a dumb move, while cleaning under the hood of my C-4, I fill the air cleaner intake full of water.
I took a long time to dry things out and get it running again. Once I got it running it took 100 miles on the Freeway to dry out and run normal again.
Question:
Is there permanent damage to the MAF when it gets that wet? The engine doesn't seen to have the same performance it did. It runs good, but not the same wild response that it use to have.

I dont know about water damage to the MAF... However once you give power to electronics when wet it usually fry's them out. But most connectors have weather seals for the electronics.
You can try and removed the maf and get a can of MAF cleaner at a parts store and spray it down.
Is the check engine light on? You may want to disconnect the battery for 30 mins or whatever the voodoo time is to clear codes and reset the computer and see if it comes back to life.
You know about this right? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrolock
I dont clean engines with a hose. Nice bottle of squirty squirt and a rag.

I learned my lesson. BUT....
I am sure that if one is driving in extreme wet weather conditions, there is water everwhere under that hood. It just can't be that delicate of an issue.
Thanks, All.

Some guys buy new optis and cover the entire thing with silcone glue to try and seal out water. They are the LTX engines achilles heel.

Never clean with a hose if you have an opti
