I'm new to this need help with my 87 vette . Why when I press the brake down my digital temp light on my ac heat control panel goes off it also flickers a lot is this a relay. I also have no flashing turn signals on passenger side driver side works great but not on passenger side also the arrow above the steering wheel stays solid on bad side help
I know it is a PITA to do but maybe it's time to clean the battery terminals. I just did both my vettes, one of them was quite corroded with white powder.
Also if you don't have the terminal bolts that extend out of the insulation surround this would be a good time to put new bolt in. (Just in case you ever have to jump it.)
I have no idea where the chassis end of the ground connects so I didn't do that but the battery end of things is relatively easier.
Anyone got any ideals on why temp light goes off on climate control display when I press the brake
I don't know what you mean by, "temperature light". There are 3 lamps in the heating/ac temperature/blower control that provide back light. Two things can make the lamps turn off when you brake. Either the 12v turns off with the brake applied or the ground wire goes to 12v with the brake applied. On the temp control the 3 lamps get 12v power on the grey wire and there are two ground wires, both black. You need to measure all of these wires one at a time while you apply the brake and see if the 12v goes away or the ground wires rise in voltage (they should remain at zero volts). Then either ground the black wires with an added wire or trace the 12v circuit to find out where it shuts off when the brake is applied. It would help you a lot if you would buy the electrical diagnosis manual for your 87.
on my 87 the left side was washed out during the day and there was enough light reflected from the bulbs that were workin in the dash at night to make it appear as though everything worked. Start replacing bulbs and you may find that cleaning plug connections,...etc, may cure your problem, it did on mine
1. Replace all the bulbs in the cluster, just be careful not to crush them in place. They are probably the originals. They are easy to replace except for getting 20 year old bulbs out.
2. The climate control unit is known for cold soldier joints. This is a PITA to fix.
3. Probably a bad ground. There is I believe a ground right next to the passenger headlight up front.
