Default Shifter **** Question

Quick question:

86 4+3

I want to move my Overdrive button to the console and replace the shifter **** with a ball (Hurst 4 Speed type of ****).

Anyone know the thread size?
Can this be done?

Thanks.

The Hurst handles threads are too small, you can drill out the threads and "self tap" the handle onto the shifter. You can get the Hurst handle with a button, also. The switch can go anywhere you want.....

Ha, I was going to say the exact same thing!

not sure of the thread size. Moving the button should be easy. Find someone who is parting out a 4+3 with the button on the trim instead of the ****. Buy the whole trim piece including all of the switches and swap it out for yours. Plug the 2 wires going to the **** button into the button in the trim and your done. Good Luck with your project. PS, PM me if you do it. I would be interested in buying your shifter **** and button.

Did some more research and disassembled my shifter - seems to possibly be the same as the zf and t56 threads - 9/16 x 18. Going to verify this tomorrow at the hardware store.
Then - find one with the 4 speed pattern engraved on top (not 5 or 6).

Alright, purchased a 9/16 - 18 bolt. Perfect size.
Ordered a ball **** with the C4 emblem embedded in it - it comes threaded correctly. Purty.
Don't know if I can post the name of the online store here (it comes in three colors and also fits the ZF shifters) but I will if it is allowed.
