I'm well versed at using HP Tuners, having tuned for several years now on the ls1-7's. My buddy, 96collector here on the forum would like to scan and tune his 1996 Vette. Reading the faq and other threads I see that the 1996 was the first year for obdii but it seems my hp tuners cable won't read it.
lt1 Edit is pricey, particularly considering it doesn't come with a scanner program and to me you can't tune if you don't scan.
What do you experts think the best scanning program is for the 1996? As always money is a factor....
Hi Joe.. I have ordered this device which looks to be good value for the money ($99 + $10 shipping). It is somewhere between the Czech Republic and Alabama right now. I will post my evaluation of their system when it arrives and I get to plug it in... Walt http://obdtester.com/obdtester
I know AutoTap is a scanner - it will show real time data, I'm unsure about logging it to a file. you might want to ask them.
Thanks Snake Oiler. I've had AutoTap for 10 years I guess, but I have to tell you, it is one hard program to use. I've only been able to use it to reset codes, I've tried scanning, it seems to give real time information but I can't figure out how to have a graph like HP tuners does.

Walt this sounds promising, please post up what you think of it.
This is the kind of graph of data I would like to get, FYI. This comes with HP Tuners.
Oh Snake Oiler...I thought you might like my license plate frame!
It's hard to read but says "Go Speed Racer Go". I had it long before the movie came out.
AutoTap (not the AutoDIY crap they're advertising now, true AutoTap) is what I use, just starting to tune my LT4, along with LT1_Edit. It will display real-time info as well as datalog everything, and the interface is completely customizable. You can add graphs, gauges, and tables wherever on the screen you want, having each display whatever you want, and for whatever time frame (if playing back a logged file) you want. The problem I'm running into now is that, apparently, to log AFR you have to get the GM-specific upgrade, which I think is $100 but the new AutoTap website sucks. When I did a bunch of research (about a year ago) before purchasing this stuff, I found this combo to be the best out there, at least for the price (still REALLY expensive, kind of wish I had a 95 at this point)
