This is odd. When I back up my stero (every now and then) will go full blast, for a sec or so. Any ideas?
I'm assuming you have a later C4, putting the year and engine type in the post is helpful.
There are typically three reasons...
- The "Speed Compensated Volume" (SCV) is failing within the radio itself. This requires the head unit to be rebuilt
- The Vehicle Speed Sensor (which is what the SCV function is keyed to) is failing. Typically you will see your speedometer do some odd things if the VSS is failing (ie the digits are slow to respond, incorrect speed readings, etc).
- Electrical connector/wiring issue
