I'm wanting to paint my intake, valve covers and plenum silver with black ribs and my runners black, was also wondering if any of the high temp clear coats held up good? Post some pics please!
Ever consider powdercoating? It holds up well and withstands the heat that most intake/valvecovers are subjected to. If you find a decent powdercoater they can coat the base plenum one color, then either do the ribs another color or leave them natural and then clear the whole thing...
Other than that I've painted intakes and valvecovers with PPG paint/clear and they held up good - however I can't give a real long term reference as I didn't own that engine but about 1.5 years and it wasn't a daily driver - all my 'fast' stuff has been no-fills and the best they got was either nothing or a basic rattle-can job with VHT...
By the way, that Maytag thing sitting beside your kitchen sink.. Does an excellent job of de-greasing things like that, especially if it has a pot scrubber cycle. Just appease your wife/mother/girlfriend and use a rag and varsol to get 99.9% of the gunk off first.
