Well, my car is finally running again! The thing would run great one day, and the next, nothing. I went through all of the diagnostics in my service manual and everything pointed to the Opti. The thing that really thru me was is that when the car didn’t start, I was getting spark through my coil wire and no spark at plug wires 2 and 4 (the easiest for me to check.) The further I got into it, it pointed to INTERMETANT PROBLEM!:cuss That was a real help. :cuss Well, after I replaced the Opti, no difference.:cuss I then changed the coil and spark module, no difference. :cuss At this point, the car ran for a little while, then it would stall right out. It got to the point where it would start up and immediately die. After a lot more checking, I figured it had to be the ECM or a bad connection to my CCM. I hated to turn over the original ECM as a core and no junkyard around me had one. The best that I could find was a used one for $125.:cuss Well, I figured that before I would turn over the core that I had to at least take a look at the thing. I took it out and ripped it apart, and to my surprise, the bottom circuit board foil material where all of the components are soldered to was all bubbled up :cuss It seemed to me that it was a factory defect :cuss I took a picture of it but am still unsure as to how well it turned out because I was too lazy to set up my tripod and I haven’t had time to download it into my computer yet:rolleyes: But anyway, I broke down and bought the new ECM, and everything is working great now! Well, I have another problem, but that’s another post. Thanks to everyone that helped!
Glad you got it running, and that does sound like a strange problem! The ECM is normally one of the last things I would suspect. Don't worry to much, an OPTI swap on a LT1 is almost never wasted anyway - you just postponed your next one ;)
I got an H41 code the other day, related to ECM bad connection or something. Cleared it and it hasn't come back though. It showed up right after I re programmed the ECM back to 100% stock w/ my Hypertech PPIII. Maybe that caused it somehow. Wasn't running engine tuning, just cooler fan settings.
Man I'm sorry to hear this ,but I do believe you've solved my problem as well! This sounds identical to my car .what year is yours?mine is a 93 sooo OBD 1,I also just changed the whole ign. system includ.opticrap! I'll be pulling the ecm tonight when I get home to look for any visible signs like yours.Thanx Blue92(just saw that ..guess that answers one of my questions)

Yep, lots of strange problems like that can be traced back (well, most of the time you CAN'T TRACE them back) to the ECM. I've had a couple of cars that ran like poopie and after replacing a butt load of sensors and everything, replaced the ECM last and it fixed it.
Glock, how did you loose the 1%? Did you do a :nono:
I did do the one test it had in the manual to check the ECM, when the car was running. It said to disconnect the MAP sensor until the check engine light goes on then reconnect the MAP and turn off the car and pull the codes to see if it stored it. I did it to mine and the correct code was stored. But my problem was in the spark circuit and when I did the tests in the book, I came up with misleading diagnostics.

:yesnod: :yesnod: I posted a hot chick bare butted.... aparently even though EVERYONE has a butt, you can't do that .. :(
