Default Torque Converter / stall Advice

I am putting a new engine in my C4 - 1995 with Automatic trans from Golen Engines.
This engine is rated at 440hp.
I am trying to determine the best torque converter for the price.
It has been recommended to use a 2800 stall. I still have the stock rear gears at this time also.
Any advice is appreciated.

That number sounds good for all around usage.

Does anyone recommend any specific brands over another?

From my reading Vigilante seems to be the better converter but it is also a little pricy.
Looking at Summit Racing they seem to have several choices that are at half the cost.
Looking for advice of why to spend the differance in money or is there not a big differance.
My use is primarly street.

Pro and cons of buying a high dollar convertor.

I purchased a $500.00 new Hughes convertor the New trans I had was bad puttng the trash in to the $500.00 convertor I can send it out have it cleaned out and fixed.

When I had the trans gone though again I put a $200.00 convetor in I not happy with So I now going to send the $500.00 convertor out to get fixed change the Stall speed for the motor set up Anouther $200.00 to fix the convertor.

So what I saying if the Company sells and the Trans wanenties and convertor as a unit buy the complete unit from them so if go's bad they will fix both at the same time I purchased the convetor on my own and when I found out the new trans was bad I now stuck with a bad $500.00 convertor caused by the bad trans.
