New Tach....
I just bought a new tach from Summit. I have been looking at my logs and noticed that when I allow the car to shift on its own, I am only getting about 4800-5000 RPM out of it. Still the car is running mid 12's +/- .02 I figure that is a pretty conservative shift point. Also the car never runs out of breath, its pulls very hard till it shifts. I think the in cars tach is off or lags too much to use confidently.
What shift point do you other fellas use with similiar setups. Everything I have is in the signiture. I was thinking around 6300RPM or so...let me know what you think.
Also could you guys give me an idea how to mount this critter. It has a 5" face and external shift light. I really would have liked a smaller 3 3/8" face, but I thought the internal light might not be as easy to see. We'll see how it looks when it gets here, probably tomorrow.
Also how the heck do you wire this thing up. Anyone have an easy game plan they used? I would assume it comes with instructions, but any added help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Two wires were located in the wire cluster just left of the clutch pedal. The green tach wire (tach) goes to the white car wire and the red tach wire (hot) goes to the pink car wire.
I connected the white tach wire (light) to a brown wire just left of the radio.
And the black tach wire (ground) I connected to a metal part of the dash.
