Your first sentence is exactly what Lloyd Elliott saidGreat minds think alike.I will call Doug Rippie & see what kit they think I should put together(headers, roller rockers & springs, ported intake,& what money I have left for) as well as having them possibly tune my car.I want what works & will give me the best bang for my buck excluding Nitrious. The top-end kit(Trick Flow) is an option I will do down the line since no one here has this kit & it has everything needed & all the parts are designed to work together. For now its headers, rockers & springs, ported intake,& tune.Is this a good idea for making power? What kind of increases I will gain?I'm not going to do a torque converter & gears at this time. When I do that I will upgrade the diff. to a dana 44 & buy a new trans. at same time as torque converter.I want best performing bolt-ons & the biggest seat-of-the-pants power increase
That is a good choice.. did your budget double?
What LE is going to put together for you will be matched.=

No.My budget is $2000.Headers(long tube),rockers & springs, ported intake & tune.I will do all installs myself except headers & tune.I just talked to Randy a DRM & he may have some rockers for me.That would be nice.I would like to get everything used but in good condition.Anyone have any of these to help me get started?I'm hoping to break into the 12s with these upgrades on street tires.Anyone think this is possible with my plans/upgrades?I hope I gain at least 60hp(flywheel)
i have a trick flow kit on my 86, and works better then great, only i used a summit cam and i guess im around 400hp also went to 670 holley avenger. pic's in my profile

Break into the 12's huh? What do you run now? Auto or Stick?

Maybe he should also go with wagon wheels.

The OP is intrested in a trick flow kit, I would like to know about your set up too.

Automatic.I do have the 3.07 gears(dana 36).I would be happy with a 12.99,as long as I'm in the 12s.My eventual goal is low 11s,but thats when I have alot more to spend.I will some day go with the Trickflow kit but have a cam designed for my setup by then. The Trickflow kit is a good price & I've read good things about using their heads.I want my car to hang with a stock C6 ZO6,eventuallyAgain I ask,you guys think I will get into the 12s on street tires with long-tube headers, roller rockers & springs,a ported intake, possibly a electric waterpump & a quality tune from DRM?I will gasket match(port begining at intake runners on heads) the heads when the intake is off using a dremel tool or something similar making sure no shavings get into the engine. Will this mod do anything?I know I'm not opening up the bowls doing this but it should allow for more air to flow smoothly into head right?Doing this mod should allow for uninterrupted airflow into heads or at least to valves.I might do gasket matching on exhaust ports too while headers are about to go on thus allowing for smoother airflow.Everyones thoughts on this? Its got to free up some extra hp
tell me what you want to know, this particular car has a richmond 6 sp with a 305 first gear, its one peppy vette
I dont want to hijack this guys thread. I'll shoot u a pm. I am intrested in hood clearance, intake, dizzy, ect. I have a Richmond ROD in my shop right now, ready to go in my 84.
It should not be too much trouble to get into the high 12's with what you have in mind. FYI, you do not need a ported intake unless you go above 500HP, it flows plenty of air. I would start slow with things like K&N filter with cut lid. This setup ( I use) actually flows more air than just about any 350 can suck. On exhaust side, headers with x pipe and good flowing mufflers will help a lot. Next step would be gears, I suggest since you want to go faster later to swap your D36 for a D44 from a manual trans. car. A higher RPM stall might be a good idea. A tune as well and with this and some good driving you might get into the 12's.
See this link below...it will help give you a good road map, give or take.
Go to www.vetteweb.com and go into tech, follow their 96 Coupe Auto Build up, right up your alley. They have done lots to the car so make sure you go back a ways and find all the articles.
FYI, there are guys here in Corvette Forum and other places getting very low 13's....like 13.0 and even just breaking into the 12's in stock street tires C4 LT1 6 speeds. Mr. Mojo is one of them.
