Default Is 32K the Correct File Size?

I have saved several EPROM images out to a file and they are all 32K.
These were read off 27C256 chips with beggining address; 0000
and ending address FFF0.

Do I need to reset the default begin/end addresses to read the whole chip?

Is 32K the proper file size for a 727/730 ECM PROM?

Question 2:
I have the Needhams EMP-10 programmer.
I cannot edit the "buffer" and then just write those addresses back to the chip.
Why can't I just do a bit/byte edit and save just those changes back to the chip?
It seems the chip must be TOTALLY erased before the programmer will write back to it. Is this ok?

Thanks much!!
Jim

Yes the 7727/7720 PROMs will be a 32K file
the PROM address length is 0000 to 7FFF

Although in the hex editor the last line starts at 7FF0. usually if you select the device to read, the programmer will automatically adjust the size.

With the PROMs it is a one time all or nothing write.. then if you reprogram you need to erase completely. If you make a few changes in the Hex editor you will need to recalculate the check sum since it is stored in Hex locations 0006 and 0007. If you make a change the in programmer editor save the file again and reopen it in Tunercat or Winbin. In Winbin recalculate the checksum and save it.. in tunercat it will automatically calculate the checksum and all you will need to do is re-save it then program your PROM.

Hope this helps
