Default Non-LT heads on a LT engine

I'm curious how many guys are running non-lt heads with a single plane or mini ram on a lt shortblock. I'm thinking of going this route and getting away from the lt1 intake manifold due to the distribution issues. I will continue to use my vortech ysi.

Are all the mounting points on the heads the same between the sbc and ltx heads in regards to the accessories? Will my blower bracket which uses 2 bolt holes on the head and one on the block still fit?

thanks!

By the way, the only one I've seen on here is Will's car but I'm sure there must be at least a couple...

Why do you have to swap heads ; can just use a reg SBC intake with the bolt pattern modified to suit LT1 heads.

TPiS at one stage made a LT1 MR that was identical to the std model except for the intake bolt pattern
and a freeze plug in the dist hole at rear
On a LT1 ,No coolant goes to the thermo housing so blocking that is only for cosmetic reasons

The ltx mini ram costs as much as a set of heads by the time you're done with it. I'd rather go with a sbc converted head and $350 intake. I'd also like to eventually get rid of the opti at some point in search of some serious rpm.

My point being you don't need reg SBC heads to run a reg intake on a lt1; just a bolt pattern change on the intake
I used the TPiS example above of a intake being identical except for the intake bolt pattern

gotcha. I just reread it. Yeah, I could convert the pattern on a sbc intake.

Member MSR used this Victor E intake on his LT1

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1572003384-post1.html

He modified the end holes in the intake and drilled/ tapped holes in the LT1 heads for the 2 center bolts

Regarding your dist question you will see he used a MSD crank trigger dist ( is only a cap and rotor / no electronics ) to send the spark from coil to plugs while using the Opti only as a triggering device so he could keep the stock LT1 electronics.

Coil pack set up is your best option. This option works well regardless of intake/head choice.

Anyone know if the accessory mounting points are the same on sbc and ltx heads?
