Well, to my surprise, as I was putting the top up tonight, the entire glass window on my 1995 convertible just came loose. I was able to get it to sit on the cloth covered bumpers, but no seal at all on the window to top. One other question ... the cloth part that covers the rear deck with the top up .... need input on stopping that from flapping with the top up and windows down.
I have had the car one month, really enjoying it, just asking for some help/advice on how to go about fixing this. Thought I might call a local convertible top specialist, but don't want to do anything until I have some forum input.
Re: Loose Window in 95 Conv top ... help (alamodoc)
My 90 doesnt have a glass window but i thought they were stictched in you could have some loose missing stitches if the top looks good on the outside just get it fixed. The cover that flaps has two elatic straps the come from the front corners and screw to the top-frame. If theyre a bit stretched out you could unscrew pull them tighter and re screw them that might help.
Re: Loose Window in 95 Conv top ... help (blk90rdstr)
Thanks for the reply. Just out checking it some more ... there is nothing holding the window except the four posts for support ... ie no stitching or seals and no sign of such. Have a call in to the previous owner to gather more info.
I did find the straps and will try them. I have only had the top up three times in the month I've owned the car ... gotta love the springtime weather.
