I have an 89 Convertible. I have components up front and 6x9's in the rear. On the rear floor I have a Rockford 200.4 and an MTX 200 Watt Amp. The Rockford is hooked up to the speakers and the MTX isnt hooked up to anything. It was for a sub box or some sort of sub system. The problem is that I can NOT find anything to fit in the rear of the car for deep bass sound while the top is down. I know I will probably have to lift the amps up against the back wall to make space for a box or tube but what is available to fit in the back with the top down I can not find. Does anyone have any suggestions? Let me know. Thanks.
I think Bazooka still makes the six inch tube. They fit anywhere and sound good without building custom enclosures. My Suburban has only one six in it and it hits pretty hard. Its funny, I was at a car show like 2 summers ago and this guy had a yellow 86 that was real loud, top down but I was too busy lookin at the 3 tvs it had i never saw his bass set-up.
I'm not sure how big of bass you're looking for, but I'll tell you what I have in my coupe.
I have 6.5s in the doors, 6x9s in the rear with a sealed 10" Infinity kappa. The sub and 5 channel amp share a partitioned box that is about 14x7 1/2x30.
Mine is plenty loud with plenty of bass, but I'm old and easily pleased :D
Get a pair of Image Dynamics 10's, point them at the rear wall in the car, as far back as you can go, and power them at 300 watts each. it will be loud.

See the bottom of the post.
It has a single 12 in a sealed 1.0 foot box with nothing modified.
Hope this gives you some ideas. I am changing mine out soon for a different sub and rear speakers. Maybe in the Fall?
