After everything was all done and checked three times, I set the initial fuel pressure to 45lbs and climbed into the drivers seat to start it. I sat there with my fingers on the keys for several minutes....nervous..... I finally turned the key to on, heard the the fuel pump build pressure, and hit the key. It fired up on the second revolution of the engine and settled into a 1400 rpm idle!!!
It threw a code 64, which is the TCS system seeing the TPS not being set correctly at idle. I let it run for 15 minutes then shut it down and adjusted the TPS for .55v at idle. Cleared the code. No further problems.
There are no fluid leaks, vaccum leaks, and no odd noises. I am still amazed that I pulled this off with no major problems.
I am surprised that the Hot Cam has such a strong lope during idle. It really sounds mean with the Flowmaster system. The car is much quicker than stock, the difference is night and day. I had the GS dyno'd bone stock and it was putting out 305 HP to the rear wheels. I cannot wait to see the numbers now.
:D
When I get some CNC'd heads on there it's gonna be a beast. And yes the hot cam does have a nice healthy lope to it doesn't it? I've got some sound clips in my sig. Pulls like a bat out of hell from about 4000 rpms up too.
How rewarding does that feel!!!!!!!!!!!! i have a few down right now.. but gosh everytime i finish one.. it is completely detailed as you said and i usually dim the front shop lights and just sit and stare at the motor compartment in complete awe of how clean and nice the work and end result is.. i usually sit for a about 10-15 minutes.. then crank them up and roll them out.. i am always sad to see them leave.. i kind start to feel a part of each vette i work on.. they all have personality under the hood and some are stubborn some are pleasant but they all look the same when im done.. BRAND NEW! congrats i am sure your very very excited.. the hot cam is a beautiful bump stick.. and yes it certainly has some character to its idle. glad to hear you got the code straightened out. and for god sakes post some pictures all that work you need pictures to remember what it looked like when you finished.. they never stay that way long!
congrats!!
