Default Distrib hold down bolt

I am trying to replace the intake manifold gasket on my 91 l98. My question is how do you get to the Distrib hold down bolt? No room to turn a wrench and no room for a socket. Thanks.

There's been a 'special' wrench for years I believe for the distributor hold down bolt for Chevys. May be available at most local auto parts stores. I used an open end/box end on mine just fine though.

The 'special' wrench is a long bent up thing that lets you get in there from around 10 inches above the bolt head. It has a box end type end on it for turning the bolt.

With a 9/16" "Distributor" wrench. Got mine at Sears.

I use a 9/16" ratcheting wrench that has a flexible head on the box side, also purchased from sears. Works GREAT.

I've had one of those in my toolbox for many years! If I remember correctly, I used it on my 67 Camaro and my C3's.

Yep I found that special wrench at Harbor Freight about a week after fighting with a wobble extension and socket on that bolt. Next time I had to do something with the distributor I laughed at how easy it was with the right tool.

Switching my dist hold down bolt to an allen head. Hopefully that will make it easier.

Nothing "Corvette Special" about a distributor wrench.
Can find them at just about any auto parts store too.

I put my 9/16th boxed end wrench (long) in a vise and heated it with a torch.

Bent it right into shape!

Jeez, I used to read posts like this before I had a vise and a torch and wished that I had a vise and a torch...

...now that I have a vise and a torch, I completely forgot I could do this...

...mad scientist time tonight. Gonna destroy me some east Asian tools! (or burn down the house)
