Any of you Guy's that run a Solid Roller Cam have any Problem with your Knock Sensor Picking up the Tap of Solids and Retarding your Timing? Can you do away with the Knock Sensor or won't the Car Run without it? Pipe
You can turn the KS completely off with your tune (or desensitize it), but I'd advise against it because it could save your motor. Are you getting retard?
The two tables in an ARAP .bin are knock retard in & KR out of PE.........a MAF motor.
ps: you may want to post this in scan & tune as well.
If you are running a solid roller, it will drive your KS crazy! You pretty much have to turn it off. I don't have one on my car, and I have been running NOS thru it since 2003 and never hurt anything. Guys have been tuning solid rollers for decades without KS. You just have to be a little more careful looking for predetonation. A KS is nice, but you can be ok without one.
It is a different setup than the OEM. I tried to use a MSD knock sensor with a mech roller and could not get it to work. The MSD has a sensitivity adjustment. Even turned all the way down it read more like a tack than a knock sensor.
Like Jim, I have my knock sensor off. I run a hydraulic roller cam, but with bracket racing, a false knock can retard the timing 20 degrees and the timing doesn't return to normal until the end of the run. Lose a few hundreths and you've lost the race. I watch the afr, timing and plugs and make sure the motor is tuned on the safe side. Willie
Thanks for the Answer's guy's i'm getting ready to drop in the 383 I'm also gonna thin out the wiring harness to just the bare bones of what I need to run no EGR, Mass Air, AC, ESC and such. Also what about my ATI Rattler Balancer that would have caused false knock also? Pipe

If you are running a solid roller, you won't have to worry about the sensor picking up knock from anywhere else.
i never had a prob with my ks picking up anything from my sr
i have data logged alot in the past. and the only time it has picked up det is when i was playing with timing
