Default Door sill carpet install question

I'm getting ready to order my new carpet kit. I ripped the old stuff out and will be replacing with willcox acc mass backed coupe kit. My old door sill carpet was installed on some plastic sill covers, they are cracked and broken even before the demo. My question is, do I lay the new mass backed carpet right over my body door sill or do I need to buy a new pair of that plastic pos to install my new carpet on. Any help is always appreciated!

I just did the same thing last year and the fiberglass door sill covers were pretty ratty and broken in places as well. I would not suggest putting the carpet right on the body sills although I considered it as well. A little carefully placed fiberglass mat and resin got me back to square one. Just one layer (only where the repair was needed) is what I limited it to to ensure it would fit the sill afterward. I repaired the underside of the "U" shaped piece. By gluing the carpet to those covers it installs very easily. To do the gluing you need some weights and some boards that will exert pressure the length of the surface. I did each surface in sequence because there just weren't enough weights and boards to do it all at once. As an example. Glue the outside first, then the horizontal (top) part of the sill then the inboard part last. This will let you pull the carpeting tight as you go. Clamps first to hold while you position your boards and weights. I used 3M adhesive I got from Lowes and it did just fine.
