Hey guys, I'm about to go outside and pull the timing set and camshaft. I guess I overlooked this part because I didn't buy a gear puller, and dad doesn't have one in stock on the Snap-On truck right now. Any ideas? I've got the balancer puller/installer, but I don't think that will work at all anyways. :)
Re: [Help]: Crank sprocket w/o a Puller. (scorp508)
I used the balancer puller. I took the bolts that are used for the puller and put nuts and washers behind the sprockets so the bolt itself laid in the valleys of the sprocket teeth. It will help to have someone help hold the bolts in the correct spot. I put them at 3 and 9 o'clock. Once you start screwing the main puller bolt in the others will hold themselves. Just be carefull it took a couple of tries but finally I got it.
Found a gear puller my dad thought he had given away years ago. I dropped the front swaybar and the lower timing gear came off like a charm. Now I have to find out which keyhole to use on the new one for straight up. It is a Cloyes double roller set.
