Default Main cooling fan is on when the car is cold.

85 corvette, everything was fine till and pulled the motor now my main cooling fan comes on when the car is cold. No engine codes and I unhooked the fan relay and it still runs.

I also checked the sensor on the head aswell.

Help.

You pulled or removed the engine Or the Electric Cooling Fan Motor?
Not sure what was removed from your question.

Are you sure you found the cooling fan relay?
Not confused with another relay?

Removing the Main electric cooling fan relay should kill the power to that electric fan motor.

On my 87, the cooling fan relay is located on the driver's side inner wheelwell apron.
Or the the radiator housing. Its late here tonight, can't verify its location till the morning.

Not positive where it is located on your 85.

On my 87 ,its a large relay with 10 gauge wires coming out.

If the cooling fan relay internal contacts are stuck or spot welded together, the cooling fan will continue to run.

Nope that is on and working fine. I switch everything off with the ac and heater and the fan still stays on.

I don't know if your 85 outlay is even close to my 87,

I looked in my 87 FSM, the main cooling fan relay is mounted on the driver's side plastic inner fender skirt.

Right below the master cylinder.

Take a look at your 85 vette, see if you have a similar relay there too.

I cant say for sure where your main cooling fan relay is on your 85.

They relay component outlay may be different by a large margin from my 87.

On the firewall of my 87, the fuel pump relay, MAF Power Relay, and MAF burnoff relay are mounted.

Others with 85's should chime in.

I dont have a FSM for a 1985 Corvette.

I am at home not at work....... otherwise I could look it up on ALLDATA for you the cooling fan relay location on your 85 vette.

This was the case when my main fan constantly ran on my 89. Plugged it in and it stopped.
