Default Check Gauges lite warning?

Hey all, I have just purchased my first 96 LT4. Love the car so far, few problems it is a used car.
Occasionally I see a check gauges lite flash. Is this normal? All the gauges are working but oil temp seems low, about 215 I think, below the first line. Digital readout reads the same temp.

Thanks for the help
Scott
Just changed out all the Vacuum lines yesterday with the correct check valves and still flash. Not all the time but maybee once every 5 minutes.

Lines were replace due to mice and dry rot

Oil temp sender could be defective.

Re "check gauges" you could scan the ECM and CCM for codes, I think you need to use a scanner on the '96.

The "Check Gauges" light means exactly that, look at all the gauges to see if one is operating out of range.

Going by memory this light could be triggered by low oil pressure, high oil or coolant temperature, high voltage reading and maybe low fuel.

These are things that may not set a code, a code will trigger "Check Engine" light, not "Check Gauges" light

I remember some posts where the Check Gauges light might flicker at idle due to low oil pressure....reported on very high mileage car as I recall..

Should be covered in owner's manual???

Going by memory, but I think the essence of what I am saying is correct

Enjoy your new LT4...great car!!
