i used that 5 min epoxy that is shown in the suspension rebuild sticky. the other day i went out and one of the peices is off of my spring so i thought i would test the strength of all of them and with a light tap from a hammer all of my poly chunks fell off the spring. any hints?
Did you sand it pretty vigorously, then clean well and let dry? The epoxy doesn't work very well on a smooth surface; you need to rough both side up so it has something to adhere to, then be sure to clean all the little fiberglass/plastic bits off afterwards.
there's a coating over the glass strands. maybe if you bathe the spring in it you could break down the glues. a quick wipe with the rag just removes grime. acetone leaves no residue and is easy to get. if you had paint quality wax n grease remover that would also work and is more tame
A lot would also depend of the quality of the epoxy you use. The cheap 5-minute stuff is more geared for home/craft use. I don't believe it would hold up very long outside. You'd at the very least want to get a product is is rated for outdoor use.

May be true as well. When I lowered my front, I bought some nice 2-part marine-grade epoxy. It worked wonders! And still does, whenever I need to join 2 pieces of plastic together.
