Default Pullin' Codes on my 88

Basically, my car likes to periodically die when I push the gas pedal. My assumption has been that a new fuel pump is in my future. Today, it did that and the Check Engine light came on, which it had only done once out of the 5 or so times it's stalled like that. When I tried to pull codes later on, all I got was 1-2 repeating endlessly. Am I doing something wrong, can that method only pull current codes, and how do you pull history codes if that's the case?

12 indicates no codes are present and '88 computer doesn't store history codes

Have had light come on occasionally but no codes displayed

For all I know, it's original. That's on the top of my list of things to replace.

Might want to check injectors while you're at it. If you have the stock Multecs, the ethanol in today's gas eats them up. See sticky at top of C4 Tech/Performance, FIC injectors. Great prices, and very good to deal with. A lot of us here on the CF have been there, done this.

Not really. 12 indicated ECM in in a diagnostic mode. Will flash 12 then codes then 12 to tell you it is finished. rodj is correct that 12 alone means no codes are set.

Found a reciept in the hatch saying the injectors were replaced in 07. Not sure what they were replaced with, so that's not a huge help. Maybe I can upload a pic of them tomorrow to show what the plug ins look like.

That's a good idea. The filter is a maintenance item anyway, and once you replace it, it is eliminated from the list of suspects.
