Default 90 L98 Plenum and Runner Porting

Hi Guys

Half my injectors had an impedence of around 5 ohms. So I tore apart the top end of the motor to replace them with Bosch III's. While I have everything off the top of the motor I am going to do an "engine in" clean up and detail job. The valve covers are in great shape, just discolored. I have ordered valve cover paint, Do I need to prime the covers before I paint them or will cleaning and a little sanding do?

The plenum, distributor cover and alternator bracket are oxydized. I am thinking about repainting these parts before installing them. What type of paint works the best for cast aluminum parts? Would brake caliper paint work?

I am also thinking about cleaning up the inside of the plenum and gasket matching the plenum to the runners. The motor is stock. Will doing this improve performance? Its not going to cost me anything but a little time. Any advice? or if you can direct me to any threads or stickies that would explain the best way to do this work would help a lot.

It's been a while since I have turned any wrenchs, but it's coming back. You can't say it's realy your car unless you dive in and spend some time and skinned knuckles getting to know her.

Thanks

Here is a write-up on refinishing your valve covers. Remember that the new paint will be alot softer than the OEM epoxy paint. So be careful not to ding the new valve cover paint especially in the first few weeks while the new paint is relatively soft.

Long Tube headers, way better intake and a dyno tune.
