E-Brake/Parking Brake Adjustments on a 1990...need help
Redid all my brakes over the weekend. Replaced the rear calipers too.
Problem still remains....emergency brake will not hold the car when car is put in drive. Car rolls forward.
Reverse is not as bad, it slowly rolls then stops...
So sounds to me like i do need an adjustment. Is this done at the ratchet inside the car? I have checked my manual and looked underneath....I did not see anything for adjustment.
thanks

Jeff:
I don't think there is an adjustment. On the other hand, you can buy a brake adjuster at most auto supply stores. They are normally a metal bracket with a "J" shaped bolt. You position the hooked end over the cable, align the bracket on the cable and tighten it to take up the slack. A little on the crude side, but they work. Good luck. Cire96

On my manual (I have an 89 coupe), it says that there is a
PARKING BRAKE AUTOMATIC ADJUSTER. Parking brake lever/cable adjustment is automatic. Cycling the lever three times should result in parking brake lever movement of 3 to 5 notches when a 270 N (61 lbs.) force is applied.

I don't know if this will help., but on my 92 there is a small allenhead type screw on the inboard side of the rear calipers. by tightening the screw, it will position the shoes closer....you might check...
