Default LOWERING AN 89 WITH 315'S

I have 315's on the rear and am thinking about lowering it a couple inches but I don't want to do it if there is even the least bit of concern [IMG][/IMG]

I don't know where you are going to find a lowering kit that will lower it two inches. I bought one from Ecklers that they advertised as lowering up too two and half inches but with the nuts on the end of the bolts it lowered it one inch. I have the 315/35/17 G-Forge tires and clearence is ok but I don't think lowering it more would be a good idea if you went over a hump at speed you may hit the tire with the fender. I would just lower it one inch that will make it sit level. I saw a vette at a car show that had been lower probably 2 1/2 inches and the owner admitted that he had to drive it at less than 40 mph all the time to keep from tearing the fenders off.

My car is fairly low and I've been throwing the idea of 315's on the rear around. FWIW, I think clearance can be affected in a big way by two factors.
1. Alignment - I have a fairly aggressive alignment in that you can see the inward slope of the front and rear wheels, this would help with outer gaurd clearance but probably cause problems on the inner guard. I want to test fits my friends 315's to see if I can do this.
2. Tyres - Some tyres have a more rounded shoulder and therefore better clearance with the guards, Sumitomos give good clearance while Pirelli P700's have a fairly square shoulder which doesn't help clearance. Another friends 95 which is VERY low (ie: slammed) is dinged up inside the fibreglass fender because the Pirelli's on OEM GS rims rub the fibreglass on bumps...

i have lowered mine... i think it's about an inch in the rear, and i'm running 315's with no problems at all... but you know you gotta have a wider wheel than the stocker right? mine are 17x11's and the tire fits great! don't think you'll fit a 315 on the stock 9.5ers...
not to mention i have fx-3 and z-51 so my suspension may be stiffer than yours
