Hi there, just finished building my new short motor.
Everything seemed to go together ok following P.K.s thread but.......
Just wondered how much effort it should it take with a torque wrench to turn it over ? Crank, rods, pistons and cam...... mains set @0.0025 rods @0.0022.
This is going to be a long tube TPI motor reving out to 5300rpm
it depends on the cylinder wall finish you have, alot of people like the rough finish, thats around 30 or more and some more in racing like the smooth finish as long as it was honed with a torgue plate and there around 20 or less, just alot less friction
One possibility, assembly lube has an effect on it. Stuff I used was really sticky and even though the clearances were good, after the engine sat for a couple days I had to put two bolts in the dampener and use a bar to spin it. Another engine I changed the rear seal on (two piece), used the stuff putting it back together and it was noticeably harder to turn than before. Heard people on another forum say the same thing.
