Default Fuel Pressure Question

1996 LT1. At cold start I have 34 lbs. Tapping the throttle takes it to to 32 lbs. When I stop the engine the pressure goes to 5 lbs. after 10 minutes.

I assume the pump is gone. Would a filter do that? Any help is appreciated before throwing parts at it.

It sounds like the regulator is functioning properly. The drop in pressure with the engine off is a common occurence and not necessarily a performance problem. Based on what you have stated, I would not replace anything. Is there a performance problem?

Bad idle, random cylinder misfire. I have another thread about all the issues following a head gasket repair.

Isn't that low? Shouldn't the gauge hold for a long time, say an hour?

My 85 dropped to 0 psi within minutes. It never affected driveability. As for the pressure at idle, I don't know what factory pressure is for your year. But it does sound low.

That's with the regulator's vaccuum line disconnected.
