Plug gapping??????
My plugs are gapped to about .045, what should they be at, and how do I get them gapped right?

Re: Plug gapping?????? (65Z01)
any mods that might have changed your gap requirements? or is that for a out of the box type 350? In rereading your signature, I am guessing its not stock...

Re: Plug gapping?????? (MinnesotaRagtop)
The HyperTech coil puts out 53kV compared to 38kV from the stock unit. Combined with the lower resistance TPIS wires, this allows me to run with a .045"-.048" gap.
With a stock ignition I suggest the stock gap, i believe .035". I would still run with cut-back ground electrodes for a more efficient burn though.

What is the stock plug gap for a 92 LT1? I thought it was .050.

Re: Plug gapping?????? (Springer's 95)
Stock is .050 on the LT1. I run .035 on my bosch plugs and my car seems to really like it there!

I gap mine at .035 for the Nitrous. LT1 stock gapping is .050 as stated above.

Re: (Vette92)
But if I cut the electrodes it would be even a bigger gap, like going from a .045 to .060
What exactly do you guys do exactly to the plugs?

Re: (BAdAzZV8)
All you do is bend the tip. Get a plug gap tool, usually just a round disk with an inclined edge. Check the gap with the tool, use the tool to open the gap by prying up on it.
I hope that is what you are asking.

Re: (Vette92)
Yeah, that is what I was asking. I wasn't sure if I could bend the tip or not, and I have the gap tool.
Thanks,
Anthony

Re: (BAdAzZV8)
OK, so now I'm looking at getting a good gap. Some are saying .035, but you say that you did that for your nitrous setup, would it be good to do that if not running nitrous?

Re: (BAdAzZV8)
Again this maybe something you fine tune for your car but .035 is where mine runs best, judging by mph.

Re: (BAdAzZV8)
I would set it to stock plug gap of .050" for a N/A setup.
