I have read that lowering the tire pressure gives a smoother ride, and it also can lead to tire wear. I have an 84 that has the Z51 and I am using 89 wheels with the origional gatorbacks and have been using 38 pounds front and rear.
I sure would like some imput on this. Thanks

Lee, I think 38 is high too...keep in mind with the summer season fast approaching, tire pressure will naturally increase with the heat...therefore, a 32lb setting is probably more like 36-38lbs especially if you're doing a lot of highway driving. Given my car only sees warm sunny days, I have them set at 32lb...
Re: Need some help on Tire Pressure (lee.anderson)
I guess I'm different I keep the front at 42 PSI and the rear at 38 PSI. The difference is the side wall for your tire and the vehicle wieght. I'm not what the 89 wheels are (17" vs 16"), but lower profile tires need/like higher pressures.
If you really want to change the ride change your shocks...it'll be cheap in the end.
Re: Need some help on Tire Pressure (lee.anderson)
Hmmm I have never tried the 150 mph yet, but it seems like everyone is running over the factory 30 psi. I assume the lower you run the more chance of tire wear or is it the higher you run ?? Thanks for all the response, no I am
really confused, I will probably take the middle.
Re: Need some help on Tire Pressure (lee.anderson)
With lower tire pressure, you will have a bigger contact patch, therefore more friction, therefore quicker wear.
If you have too much pressure, the center of the tire will wear first, if too little pressure, the outer edges tend to wear first.
