My left headlight motor continues to run when the headlight is open or on. I purchased (2) new large gears part # 444357 at corvettecentral.com. Do I need to replace the bushings also 444359 (did not purchase when I ordered L-gear) or just the large gears?
if your 87 is original, you do not need the bushings, they are for later year lights, you may need the smaller gears also, however. when I did the originals on my 87 one big and one small were stripped.
I removed the headlight assembly on my 87. How do I remove the motor? I removed the 3 bolts that hold the motor to the assembly. My problem is the screw heads to split the motor for rebuild are toward the headlight. Do I need to disconnect the shaft somehow? Instructions I found said to remove the 3 bolts holdng the motor to the assembly then pry it off. I don't want to pull to hard and mess up the connection to the shaft somehow. Can you help me out please?

up inside the housing you will find a 13mm nut that is holding the motor shaft to the bracket, unscrew that, you may need a wobble extension, and your motor will come away from the bracket. When you seperate the motor halves, be carefull and look inside as they come apart , and remember where and what position everything is, it will save you alot of time on reassembly.
