Default Help my A/C Compressur does not kick in!

I went to get some R12 put in to my system but I could not get the A/C compressur to kick in, it is not the fuse and when I pull out the code on the A/C controler I get code 09 Low Freon.
Can any body help me it is getting hot here..... :(

if you have the electronic controls take the batt terminal out for 20 minutes to reset the computer is the only way it can not be jumped like others

I don't know about yours, but my compressor will not kick in if I am too low on R12.

But how do you put the R12 in if you cant get the compressur running because I was told that it had to be running to get it in.

I tried to turn my air on yesterday and the compressor clutch wouldn't start either. Checked the fuse but didn't actually put a meter to the connector yet. I did have a small leak last year, low freon could be the answer. That stuff is not cheap these days.

disconnect the battery for 20 minutes. As soon as you hook it back up, and start the car, the a/c should auto start. Hook up the connections, and start the recharge.

I will do that Black87c4
But I just got of the phone with the Dealer and they told me that you have to pump it in there until the compressur kicks in and if they do that then it will cost about $120 that is a lot when you can get it for a free... :nonod: I hope I can find a way to do it myself but if I know them they have made it so that you have to take it there.....

As long as you have a schrader valve wouldn't think that it would be a problem, if I remember right. I took mine to firestone last year, it was low but not by much but If it's very low this time it will cost $$. If its that bad I'll have to find out where the leak is or just swap over to the new style.

There is a low pressure switch on one of the refrigerant lines that keeps the compressor from running when it is low on refrigerant. You need to uplug the wire to the switch and jump the wires at the connector with a paper clip to allow the compressor to run while you add the refrigerant. One the systyem has a charge you can plug the connector back together.

one of the hoses going to the compressor will be slightly larger than the other. the larger line is the suction line and the low pressure switch will be in that line some where. on the 94 it is near the passenger wheel well, with luck the 91 will be the same.

This issue has come up twice in the last 5 days. The C68 electronic controller will use software to cut out the compressor when the cycle count is too high. To clear the controller, unplug the battery, wait a few seconds (30 seconds should work just fine), and then reconnect. Now wait for 2 minutes and don't touch any buttons. The computer is moving the mixing door through the full range of motion and will store the settings. Start the engine and turn the air on. The compressor should start. If you let it run too long without getting in the R12, the software will again kick in and shut down the compressor. I am assuming you have a set of gauges. Not sure how low the system gets before you have to bypass the low pressure switch. Hope this helps. If you have a service manual, let me know and I will give you the page numbers for more infomation.
