CS 144 questions
On upgrading to CS144 is it necessarry to upgrade the battery cable to a higher Amp one or not?
On the 91 there is a terminal behind the battery with the fusible links. Are there any other fusible links anywhere (i.e. at the starter) on the 91 or only behind the battery?
Also i have found a post in the german forum, where they discussed that burned contacts in the starter solenoid are the reason for the dying cs130 alternaters. Anybody experience with this information?
BUT if the CS 144 ia able to put out more amp i think it is necessarry to use a battery cable which is also able to handle more amp. Or not?
Any an idea to my other questions?
I dont know about the starter info... I replaced my starter and still had dead alternators. I do find that info interesting... How did they come about it?
There are no detailed information at all but it goes in the direction that the burned contacts pull a lot of add amps during start and after the alternator has much more work and gets hotter to get them back into the batterie which shortens lifetime.
It sounds logical but as i said - no details at all.
The backplate of the solenoid can be taken off by unscrewing and the contacs can be seen after (check if they are burned). Also there is an information that Toyota Denso can deliver them as a spare part.
If anybody is intrested there is the direct link to the post in the german forum: http://www.corvetteforum.de/thread.p...tuser=0&page=2
rev the engine higher. When it was stock, I didn't have any problems.
But when I modded the engine and started to rev it 6k+, it burned
three times in one year.
That's why I went with 144.
144 vs 130

CS-144 is quite larger so some modifications had to be done:

Also, since CS-144 has more Amps capability, I installed new
(thicker) wiring:

Ready to run:
More internal heat in the alternator + more heat from the engine...
I think i will also go with a new cable.
Now - anybody with a 91 who can answer if there are add fusible links or only these behind the battery?
