Default Difference in Medical grade Nitrous Oxide.....

I have a friend that is in a position that he can get medical grade nitrous oxide, for a low cost if not free. I keep telling him that it won't work, and he tells me that it will. Which one of us is right? And, what exactly is the difference between the two.

There is an additive in the stuff you get at the speed shop that makes it smell bad. To make sure it is only used in the motor and not for other recreational purposes. The medical grade is clean and odor free.
No difference in power. :D

I heard that the medical grade keeps the N2O filter cleaner, is this true?

There will be no performance difference. However, if it's free then fine!!! The nitrous at your local speed shop has sulphur dioxide in it to deter substance abuse.

You should run medical grade whenever it is possible. Sulfur Dioxide leaves deposits in you solenoids and combustion chambers even when you use a filter.

Well everybody, you taught me something new. I always thought it couldn't be used because it didn't have that additive in it, when it is used to automotive purposes. Looks like I will be getting some good deals on my nitrous from now on. :D

Remember N20...1 part nitrogen 2 part oxygen. The nitrogen just burns up no horsepower gain. The oxygen is what makes the power! As for the pure N2o i would try to stick with medical...dont let your car huff to much Nitrous, your car will be  and your competition will be :cry

Yeah when I was in the Navy I had a hook up with the dental guys, I ran pure medical grade nitrous oxide for years.....Like stated above the only diff is the sulfur dioxide to keep us from huffing it.... :smash:
