The difficultly is directly related to the condition of the foam. If your foam is wore out it's easier to just buy new mounted covers and install them that way. Tryng to get new covers on rotted foam to look right is a PITA
You might want to consider sheepskins; once you try them, you may
decide not to go back to regular covers. Remarkably comfortable and a distinctive look. I've got them on my '88 convertible and get a lot of compliments. Quick and easy install.

I've got an 88 vette and would like to replace the seat covers. Is it difficult to do and are there any suggestions
I replaced the covers on my 84 last year. The foam was ok, except for one part of the drivers side bolster which was slightly worn. I cut out a sliver and bough a new piece at a hobby store and glued it it place with 3M adhesive.
The covers were not too difficult, just very physically demanding -you have to remove all of the old hog rings to get the covers off and then install the new covers, with all of the new hog rings -my hands were sore for a week
It took me 4 hours to do the first one ...and since I then knew what I was doing ...the same 4 hours to do the other side
Overall I would do it again if I ever needed to -it was well worth the time and effort!
Thanks for the imput. The foam seams to be fine except for the drivers side bottom. Corvette Central has the bottom foam for $80 I leaning in that direction
