Default Injector Story Long

I pulled the injectors from my 93 for winter Pm work Against the advice of many Forum members ,who told me to buy new ones, I sent them to Ligenfelter for reconditioing.. The car ran great when I sent the injectors to them, when I got them back the car missed like crazy. I unclipped the injectors one by one , and found #3 not firing. I called LPE they sold me a reconditioned one for $25. Installed the one they sent , car still missing bad, bought a new set of Accel from Jegs, installed fired up the car ran like a bear. Sent the injectors back to LPE they flow tested them again ,and said they were allright.
Installed just to check ,car misses like crazy, it appears there are 3 bad injectors. At this point I'm out about $140.with injectors I can't use, and LPE says there OK so won't make any monetary adjustments. Moral of the story ,if you have an injector problem, buy new ones. If you want to have them reconditioned see what thier policy is for handling problem's, sorry this is so long Jim.

That is real bummer.

I pulled mine and had them cleaned, etc by RC Engineering. I did this just a precaution (have 74,000 miles) as they worked fine before. I also etched each one so I knew I got the originals back.

I'm surprised Lingenfelter would not stand behind the work...seems pretty cut and dried.

$25 bucks for a reconditioned one. What a deal. A whole set is around 200 which is about 25 bucks each.

Reconditioned injectors are nothing more than cleaned injectors with new O rings and screens on the inlet. The metering mechanism is what wears out cannot be rebuilt. The coil also goes bad sometimes and cannot be rebuilt either.

I am surprised LPE even offers to recondition injectors. I wonder if Lingenfelter is making all the marketing decisions for his company.

Hey Jim
Sorry to hear about your injector dilemma and thanks for the heads up.
I have 90K on mine and been wondering about the injectors. Now I know what road to take when the time comes.

I bought a set of used 29# injectors from someone
on this forum, I send them to Cruzin Performance,
Rich checked them out and they were so close they
didn't need cleaned.

I have nothing but good to say about Cruzin Performance
and to buying them used on this forum.
