Default aftermarket seats?

I need to repair or replace my factory seats. They sell racing seats with 4 point harness on ebay for less then the cost to repair one seat. What is the catch??? Has anyone tried these aftermarket seats? My factory drivers seat is the only one that needs to be repaired but every place I have called so far wants like 4-500 to repair it.

Put a similar pair, sans the 4 point, in my '66 Porsche 912. Was actually pretty impressed, seem well built, like Jennifer Love Hewitt, and very comfortable, like a pair of worn in slippers. Seriously, I don't know how they do it either for the price, but I would do it again.

Are they a direct bolt in or do I have to fab up all kinds of brackets to make them fit?

I don;t know if these are the same "racing" seats that I tried to install a few yrs ago, if they are, they won;t fit the C4 cabin. Too wide at the front and the bolt pattern requires an adaptor for each bolt. I could get them bolted in, but there was no way to tilt, adjust, slide or anything. They were just jammed in where they would go, and thats it.

What I ended up doing was getting my sport leather seats (never again) recovered in marine-grade vinyl that I picked out. Marine-grade is more durable, heavier and has the higest UV rating. I went with a 2 tone like the ZR-1 seat colors..charcoal/silver.

4 yrs later, very durable, soft, pliable and comfortable. I had one cut from me sliding something in the car against the seat back...() that cut the vinyl but thats easily repaired.
I got both seats done for $300 labor and maybe $150 in materials.

these are seats from pepgirls, same as most aftermkt 'ricer' seats AFAIK...the bottom has a steel tube 'hoop' that fits, but the bottom 'bolsters' have secondary steel tubes that are welded to the hoop and angle outward diagonally (oem vette seat bottoms have vertical bolsters) making the assy too wide at seat front...also, seat was made with 'recline' ***** on both sides of each seat for l/r interchange, resulting in excess total width, floorboard/hump clash at seat rear.

unbolted the seat's bottoms from the backs...had an upholstery guy remove the bottom cover+cushion from each seat for later re-use ($50 IIRC)...welding guy cut the bolster steel tubes, realigned them to vertical, mig welded back in place with added corner gussets for fuzzy-warm (also $50 IIRC)...one adjusting **** was removed from each seat, **** replaced by a 'shaft collar' (1/2'' id IIRC)...the ricer tracks that came with the seats were used, 'adapters' for each seat consist of two pieces of 2'' square tube 2'' long at front, seat rears each have two flat bars ~8'' long (IIRC), bolt holes a.r. ...no mods to the vette were req'd.

these seats are firm but comfy IMHO, altho admittedly my s.o.p. rating is likely skewed by past 'real' racing seat time in 'hardcore' buckets.

If you are looking at after market seats look at Corbeaus.

agree, corbeau or sparco is as cheap as you want to go

http://dagostinoracing.com/index.php...2&currency=USD

fits in a c4 and they make the correct brackets.

however, they STILL aren't as good as the 90-93 sport seats if you can find a pair in good shape for less than 700 they are your best buy

i actually have a set of corbeau cr1's in my rice rocket and they are no where near as good as the 90-93 stock sport corvette seat {which in my opinion is the best seat they have ever put in a corvette}
