You also need an install kit (new bolts & crush sleeve). The speedo will need to be recalibrated, if your car has lots of miles (say more than 50K) you might want to consider new bearings too.
You can now get 3.73, 3.92 and 4.11 rear gears for the Dana 44 HD axel for around 200 bucks. Randys Ring and Pinion is supposed to have 3.73 and 3.92 for around 200 bucks. Toms differentials have a 4.11 set thats around 200 that I have in my car. Its a 37 ring 9 pinion combination which is supposed to be stronger than other combinations. Mine runs very smooth with them.
I recommend at least putting new bearings in since they have to come off to setup the rear end. You might consider a new carrier etc if you have a lot of miles. The pinion yolk will have wear on it from the pinion seal so it should probably be replaced.
Let me know if you want a rear setup. I can do one for about 350 labor not including shipping and parts. I can get the parts cheaper too which will save overall.
These gears are the BOMB. I am just starting to get used to them and the added accelleration is just what I was hoping for. I paid $200 labor for a local trans shop/gear installer to do mine. He does lots of the local drag and road racers, Dana 44 is pretty common. Quiet and fast :)
