Dumb timing question
what lead do you need to unhook when checking base timing? :confused:

Disconnect the EST (electronic spark timing) at the distributor

Don't know the wire color, but the connector is behind the driver side valve cover and near the distributor.

I am pretty sure there should be a connector sticking out of the large wire harness located above the brake
booster (it might be taped to the harness), I think the wire is brown (could be wrong on color). Seperate the
connector and then set the base timing, you should get an engine light on dash while disconnected.

it is near the brake booster. if you have a haynes repair manual there is a pic in there

It's by the brake booster and wiper motor. You might have to move some wiring harnesses around to find it.

The wire is brown in my car with a round connector at the end.
