Hello, I am new to this forum and I have a question on my vette. I have a 1984 vette with 80,000 miles. The idle is around 1000 to 1400 at all times. It will not slow down. I have NO check engine light on. I checked and cleaned the TB's and it still runs way too fast. Any suggestions??? I am very good at auto repair but this one got me stumped.

vacuum leak. Most common would be the bushings at the linkage connections. Check and see if you have a lot of play.
i did check that - a little play but not that bad. i removed the IAC's and cleaned them and manually adjusted them to be "out" so the idle would be slow - they moved right back as soon as it started. Can i reset the idle on the IAC's and TPS? I read an article just now about resetting the idle on a 1985 model - will it work on a 1984?
Set your TPS to .525V
IAC's reset when the car is driven over 30mph or so. Can remember off the top of my head but I'm close.
Balance your TB's with a mamometer.
If all that is correct then continue searching for the vac leak.
