Has anyone ever seen the brake caliper come out of the bracket while driving the car? The pin is still in, it's not old or worn down and the bracket does not seem to be cracked. This is the fouth or fifth time it's happened. I'm going to buy a new bracket because I'm tired of forking out cash and having them look at me as if I was nuts because "that can't happen". Same wheel every time.

Re: Front Caliper comes out of bracket!! (FNLGOT1)
You must have the J55 brakes. If the pads are worn, there can be movement between the single pin and the caliper bracket and caliper. Causes wear of all those parts. Never seen one come out. But if not lubricated and pins not replaced at every brake job and pads allowed to wear thin and all this happens alot, maybe?
You need to find where the play is. If the single pin can clear the bracket and the caliper, check for wear on the bracket, pin, caliper - and the opposite end of the caliper and bracket for the pivot. You may have a bunch of replacement to get done. I've never heard of one getting that bad! Sorry.
Of course this response is only if you have J55 brakes.
I have heard of this happening. What brand of pads are you running? Maybe they did not make the backing plates in the right shape, so it doesn't fit in the bracket snugly enough?
As above, you should check all the components for play. Everything should be nice and tight.
That is a pad defect. It is due to defective cut/shape of backing plate or severe pad plate wear. This problem is much more common on '93 and up Mustangs that run the same basic PBR 13" brake assembly. It can cause a serious incident. Don't run cheap or poorly designed pads.
ALL, Thanks for the input. Turns out that the brackets were switched left to right. Doing so puts the pin opposite of where it belongs. Braking forces the other side to open up and out pops the caliper. Since I correct the bracket mounting issue, it has never happened again.
