I have a 90 Conv. with the Bose CD unit. I have recently developed a popping and squealing from the right rear speaker. It seems to come on after the unit has been used for a while.Anybody have any ideas? I have seen a lot of postings about repalcing some of the capactors, is this the fix for this problem? Plan on swapping the right and left to determine if it is the speakers or the head. Also have had a problem ejecting the CD at times.

Re: Bose System (C1C2C4)
It is the speaker amp. You should replace them in pair's ie: rear's or front's. The newer one's are "upgraded". You can get them from Chevrolet (1 arm & 2 leg's).Or Mid-America (1 arm). Some on the Audi/Electronic's fourm below repair them. That's where this is going to wind up.
THERE ARE TWO POSTINGS UNDER C4 TECH TIPS THAT WILL BE HELPFUL
TO YOU, AND IF YOU GO TO ZR1.COM, THERE IS A VERY VERY DETAILED
TECHNICAL DICUSSION ON YOUR BAD BOSE AMP POSTED THERE.
I just posted the same problem:1991 coupe, Bose/cd/cassett/AM/FM. I am suddenly getting this screeching, clicking, drilling sound
from my right rear speaker. It doeesn't matter if the engine is running or not, it happens with the
cd/cassett and the radio. The sound is LOUD and not effected by the volume control. The only thing
that stops it, is to turn off the radio. Mid America wants $99 each for the amps.
I'm going to check out a few places today for prices. If I find something better I'll post it tonight. The guys on this forum are a great help...thanks guys!
I had the same thing in my 92, for about 5 bucks and a couple of hours I was able to save 3 out of 4 of the amps, the last one just will not work period.
The instructions on the pages they listed above laid it all out, plus if you think about it, what do you have to lose :)
I took my speakers out and sent them directly to Bose for factory repair.
I did not get them back yet. It has only been two weeks.
