Hi all. I recently purchased a '91 for road course racing purposes and I have already completed some exhaust work and other "mundane" items. I was going to take the top off the computer to find out what the code identifier read on the PROM/MemCal. When I started to take apart the computer I heard some air either coming out of or going into the computer. I assume this is because they are sealed and either at some sort of vacuum or pressurized. Is it OK to break this seal? Is there anything I need to do when I put the computer back together again? I live in Denver, so it is pretty dry here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I checked my FSM and there are no extra special precautions listed for removing the prom cover.
Yes, there is a gasket to prevent moisture intrusion. Sounds like it seals really well. The hissing you heard is probably a small amount of air escaping from when the prom cover was last installed most probably at a lower altitude that Denver..
