1996 C4 right side window not working. I've pulled door panel and checked the switches they seem to be ok. I can hear the motor run when window switches are activated. It sounds like the gear is slipping on shaft and the window doesn't go up or down. Has anyone had this problem and what was your repair method? I have found complete regulator and motor assembly, motor only or possible pinion gear replacement. I haven't pulled it completely apart as I would like a little input on problems to watch for.
Just did the drivers side. I purchased the entire assembly, motor and regulator combined. It just looked too difficult to drill out rivets, etc, etc. You should have an FSM (Factory Service Manual) doing this. There are cautionary notes about marking all the bolt and window bumper locations with a scribe, so it will fit and function as it was. Note the door latch and power lock rod locations by taking pics. One goes over the other and it won't work right if you have it backwards. Removing the little clips for the rods, deep in the upper corner of the door is a real exercise in patience. Ditto for the harness of the power lock actuator.
Once you get the regulator out, you'll need to 'eyeball' where the bolts go. It is a flimsy product and mine came bent. I had to unbend it and match the angles to the old one. If you already pulled the regulator out and didn't mark the window bumpers, guides and bolts, it's not going to be easy getting it to fit correctly, as there's a lot of room for adjustment, fore and aft, vertically and even angle wise.
